Sequans Sells Final 314 BTC to Clear Corporate Debt

Key Takeaways

Debt Elimination and Balance Sheet Unwind

Sequans Communications has completed its exit from its Bitcoin corporate treasury strategy following the sale of its remaining 314 bitcoin holdings, the company announced. The fabless semiconductor provider reported that the liquidation leaves the company with zero cryptocurrency assets and no outstanding corporate debt beyond obligations tied to government-financed research and development projects.

The disposition of its digital asset reserves marks the final step in a capital restructuring campaign that began in May 2026 with the redemption of the company’s convertible debt. By sunsetting its bitcoin treasury policy, Sequans joins a growing list of public companies that have offloaded cryptocurrency holdings following market volatility.

KULR Technology Group sold its entire 764 BTC treasury position to eliminate short-term liabilities and redirect capital into energy storage, while Riot Platforms sold 9,665 bitcoin in H1 2026 to fund the AI pivot. Other listed companies taking similar steps include Prenetics Global and Genius Group.

Commenting on the move, Sequans executives stressed that the simplified balance sheet and enhanced cash position will allow the company to refocus entirely as a pure-play cellular Internet of Things (IoT) and software-defined radio (SDR) semiconductor vendor.

“The completion of our Bitcoin treasury strategy marks an important milestone for Sequans and reflects the disciplined execution of a strategy designed to strengthen our financial foundation,” said Georges Karam, CEO of Sequans. “By eliminating our convertible debt, monetizing our remaining Bitcoin holdings in a measured and opportunistic manner, and emerging with a very strong balance sheet, we have positioned the Company to focus entirely on executing our long-term semiconductor growth strategy.”

Alongside the balance sheet update, Sequans disclosed financial momentum in its core chip operations. Product revenue for the second quarter of 2026 increased by more than 80% year over year. Additionally, the company’s six-month product backlog at the end of the second quarter more than tripled compared to the prior-year period, driven by higher design-win conversion rates.

Sequans said it remains on schedule with its 5G eRedcap platform development to support the global industrial migration from 4G to 5G cellular connectivity. The company also reported an expanding commercial pipeline for its recently introduced radio frequency transceiver, citing design-win traction across defense, unmanned aerial vehicle, and space applications.

“With this transition complete, we are focused on capitalizing on the strong momentum across our semiconductor business,” Karam added. “Combined with our strengthened financial position, we believe Sequans is well positioned to execute our strategy, scale the business, and deliver sustainable long-term value for our shareholders.”
