Bitcoin Price Eyes $100K as Prediction Markets, Wall Street Weigh In

Key Takeaways

Polymarket Piles $59.7 Million Into Bitcoin’s Next Move

The biggest action sits on Polymarket, where nearly $59.7 million in volume has piled into contracts asking what price bitcoin will hit before the end of 2026. With bitcoin’s price recently trading above $75,000, traders give $85,000 a 69% probability, while the odds of touching $90,000 drop to 49%.

The betting gets colder fast as the targets move higher. Polymarket puts $100,000 at 29%, $110,000 at 20%, and $120,000 at 13%. A return to $150,000 gets just 4% odds, while moonshot targets of $250,000, $500,000, and $1 million command 2%, 1%, and 1%, respectively.

Those percentages are not Wall Street price targets pulled from a spreadsheet. Prediction market contracts trade around specific outcomes, and their prices reveal what participants are actually willing to risk on those events. Money moving in either direction constantly reprices the implied odds.

Traders Put Real Money Behind Bitcoin’s Downside

The action is hardly a one-way bullish bet. Polymarket traders put the probability of bitcoin touching $70,000 before year-end at 67%, with $65,000 sitting at 44%. The odds slide to 29% at $60,000, 17% at $50,000, and 8% at $40,000.

That leaves an unusually wide battlefield instead of an easy bullish consensus. Prediction marketplace bettors are paying for serious downside while keeping another six-figure run alive. More importantly, these contracts settle when a threshold gets touched, not wherever bitcoin happens to finish the year.

Polymarket’s separate market on when bitcoin reaches $100,000 shows similar caution. Traders price the odds at 34% by Dec. 31, 2026, climbing to 48% by March 31, 2027, 60% by June 30, and 81% by the end of 2027. But with just $11,874 traded, that market is dramatically thinner than the larger price-target pool.

Kalshi’s Millions Build Another Wall at $100,000

Those wagering on Kalshi are flashing roughly the same warning. Its bitcoin $100,000 market has logged about $11.5 million in trading volume, with odds sitting at 7% before October, 22% before December, and 29% before January 2027.

Another Kalshi contract makes the wager even sharper: Does bitcoin crash to $50,000 before reaching $100,000? Traders currently put the $50,000-first outcome near 21%. That bet loses if bitcoin reaches $100,000 first or neither price gets touched before the deadline.

The $150,000 target faces an even steeper climb. Kalshi’s market on that level has attracted more than $36 million in volume, yet traders give bitcoin only a 6% probability of reaching $150,000 before January 2027.

Bernstein Breaks From the Prediction Market Crowd

Wall Street research firm Bernstein is far more bullish once the clock stretches beyond 2026. In a note shared on Wednesday, Bernstein lead analyst Gautam Chhugani sees bitcoin returning to roughly $125,000 by year-end, reaching a new high of $150,000 by mid-2027, and eventually hitting a cycle peak near $300,000 per coin by the end of 2029 in the firm’s base case.

Bernstein’s argument leans on institutional ownership, exchange-traded fund (ETF) demand and bitcoin’s fixed 21 million supply, while governments wrestle with enormous sovereign debt and climbing interest costs. Speculators leveraging prediction markets are pricing a much rougher road first. The immediate battleground sits at $85,000, $90,000, and $100,000 above, while $70,000 and a formidable $60,000 floor remain the downside levels traders are actively paying to hedge.
