BNB Chain Launches $40K+ Hackathon for AI Agent Marketplace

BNB Chain has announced its “Build the Era” hackathon, a new initiative aimed at creating the first dedicated marketplace for on-chain AI agents. With over $40,000 in prizes and the potential for the winning project to become the official BNB Agent Studio marketplace, the competition could reshape how users discover and hire autonomous agents. Submissions are open from August 5 to September 9, 2026.

Currently, BNB Smart Chain hosts approximately 200,000 AI agents registered under the ERC-8004 standard, representing 60% of all agents across 26 blockchain networks (BNB Chain Blog, July 2026). These agents handle tasks like market monitoring, autonomous trading, and risk management. However, finding and assessing agents remains cumbersome, requiring users to sift through GitHub repositories and social media threads. The hackathon aims to simplify this process by building a centralized marketplace for agent discovery, comparison, and deployment.

The grand prize isn’t just monetary. The winner could see their marketplace adopted as the official BNB Agent Studio marketplace, backed by BNB Chain as a standalone product with its own brand and team.
