Google is doubling down on its AI ambitions in Brazil, unveiling a suite of new tools and initiatives during its annual Google for Brazil event on June 10, 2026. The company showcased how its Gemini AI platform is transforming daily life, from personalized browsing assistants to AI-driven educational tools, all tailored for the Brazilian market.
Central to the announcements is the expansion of Gemini, Google’s flagship AI platform, which debuted in late 2023. Notable updates include the launch of the Ask Maps feature in Portuguese, allowing users to navigate and explore using conversational prompts. For example, Brazilians can now search for local spots that accept meal vouchers or plan routes with personalized recommendations. This tool will roll out publicly in July after an initial phase with Local Guides.
Another highlight is Gemini’s integration with Chrome, providing a personalized browsing assistant capable of summarizing long content, comparing multiple tabs, and more. The FIFA World Cup 2026 is another focal point. Google revealed AI-powered features for Search, Maps, Waze, and the Gemini app, delivering live scores, team updates, and viewing guides tailored to Brazilian fans. A partnership with Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras and the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) introduces TacticAI, a football strategy assistant developed by Google DeepMind, showcasing AI’s potential in sports.
Investing in AI Education
Recognizing the importance of education, Google announced over $1 million in funding to expand the Experience AI program in Brazil, helping educators teach AI skills responsibly. The company is also granting 100,000 new scholarships for Google Career Certificates, including an AI Professional Certificate, and partnering with organizations like Sebrae and Itaú to train over 1 million small businesses in AI tools. Google Cloud is scaling its AI training program, aiming to teach 3 million Brazilians by 2027, with a targeted session for 200,000 individuals in September.
