Hunter Biden to Launch LAPTOP Coin, Airdropping to TRUMP Investors

Hunter Biden, son of former President of the United States Joe Biden, plans to launch a meme coin dubbed “LAPTOP” on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The name refers to Hunter’s infamous 2020 Laptop saga, now flipped to become recognizable political branding.

Notably, LAPTOP’s debut will feature a billion tokens on Coinbase’s layer-2 network, Base. 30% of the tokens will be allocated to Hunter and fellow co-founders, with an unlock period of six months and a full vesting period of two years.

Interestingly, 20% of the token’s supply will be airdropped to holders of the TRUMP meme coin, in addition to Biden’s Substack subscribers.

Notably, TRUMP coin has nosedived by over 97% from its January 2025 all-time high. This has raised rug pull accusations amid Trump’s $1.4 billion declared crypto venture profits.

Launching LAPTOP coin vindicates TRUMP holders, mocks Trump crypto ventures, and capitalizes on the internet’s love for political irony. It also serves as an extension of Hunter’s personal brand built through the Substack blog dubbed “Where’s Hunter?” with one of its entries titled “The Laptop”.

Burn 30% if Democrats win 2028 Presidency

Another compelling part of the LAPTOP tokenomics is a conditional 30% token burn following a 2028 Democratic presidential victory. The second prerequisite is Bitcoin (BTC) hitting a price of $126,080, which is just a little short of its all-time high.

Community Reaction

Scammers are actively capitalizing on the news to launch multi-chain copycat meme coins. Since the announcement, these tokens have attracted over $6.9 million in trading volume and counting.

Meanwhile, much of the crypto community on X branded the coin a potential rug pull. Others questioned its politically tied incentives, with inquiries as to whether it counts as voter manipulation.
