Pudgy Penguins Owner Luca Netz to Host NFT Founders Meet Up During Consensus Miami

Luca Netz, CEO and founder of the Pudgy Penguins NFT project, has announced his intention to host a meeting for founders of other NFT projects during the upcoming crypto event, Consensus Miami.

In a tweet announcing the meeting, Netz said the roundtable meeting aims to discuss how to fix certain problems in the NFT space. He hopes to host most NFT leaders to deliberate on how to move forward. During the meeting, Netz aims to discuss ideas, share experiences, and hash out issues that could shape the future of the NFT industry.

Consensus 2026 is a top crypto conference and Web3 event organized by the crypto media house CoinDesk, featuring over 500 speakers and 20,000 leaders from the crypto, banking, and payments worlds. Scheduled for May 5-7, the conference will feature programming, networking, and ecosystem-led events focused on crypto.

Netz, who acquired Pudgy Penguins for $2.5M in April 2022, will host the NFT leaders meeting on May 8 at a to-be-announced venue. The CEO said that limited slots are available, as executives from prominent projects like Doodles, Yuga Labs, and Gutter Cat Gang have expressed interest. Netz has asked CEOs and founders who cannot attend the meeting to send representatives.

Netz’s announcement comes as Pudgy Penguins taps the blockchain infrastructure platform Paxos to expand support for PENGU across retail trading platforms. PENGU is the official cryptocurrency of the Pudgy Penguins project. Through the partnership, over 500 million people can have access to PENGU via exchanges and trading venues.

The arrangement with Paxos is one of the many milestones Pudgy Penguins has crashed since Netz took over the project. Under the CEO’s leadership, the brand has expanded into physical toys being sold across major retailers like Walmart, Target, and Amazon.

Pudgy Penguins has also expanded its product suite, adding mobile and browser-based games. The project is also collaborating with big brands to unveil new and exciting products. Less than a month ago, NFT Calendar reported that Pudgy Penguins had partnered with the asset manager VanEck to launch a new NFT collection. A month before that, the brand tapped the crypto debit card app KAST to launch a virtual PENGU card.

With Pudgy Penguins’ development so far, it remains to be seen how the upcoming NFT leaders meeting, under Netz influence, will affect the industry. Stay tuned for more updates!
