Circle’s USDC, EURC, and CCTP debut on Plasma, a stablecoin-focused Layer 1 blockchain, unlocking new payment and DeFi use cases.

Circle has launched its USDC and EURC stablecoins, along with the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) and Bridge Kit, on the stablecoin-focused Plasma blockchain. This marks a significant milestone for the Layer 1 network, which aims to streamline global payments and cross-chain stablecoin transfers. With this integration, Plasma extends its utility for payments, DeFi activity, and treasury management across a network already optimized for stablecoin applications.

Why it matters: USDC and EURC are among the most trusted stablecoins, offering 1:1 redeemability for U.S. dollars and euros, respectively, and regulatory compliance under frameworks like MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets). Adding support for these assets positions Plasma as a viable solution for institutional-grade settlement and trading, particularly in Europe, where euro-denominated stablecoin flows are gaining traction.

What Plasma Gains From This Integration

Plasma, which launched its mainnet beta in September 2025, has already established itself as a high-throughput Layer 1 blockchain tailored for stablecoin use cases. With over $2 billion in total value locked (TVL) and 100+ DeFi integrations reported at launch, the addition of USDC and EURC further strengthens its offering. Notably, Plasma’s payment-specific design enables zero-fee stablecoin transfers, making it an attractive option for businesses and developers prioritizing efficiency.

Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) adds another layer of functionality by allowing seamless movement of USDC across supported blockchains. Developers can integrate these features with minimal effort using Circle’s Bridge Kit, reducing the complexity of cross-chain stablecoin flows.

Key Use Cases

Institutional Payments: Businesses can access MiCA-compliant multi-currency payments, including euro and dollar settlements, directly on Plasma.
DeFi Integration: Deep liquidity for EURC/EUR and USDC/USD pairs can enable scalable trading and treasury operations.
Cross-Chain Transfers: CCTP eliminates the need for wrapped assets, offering direct transfers of USDC between chains like Ethereum and Plasma.

According to Circle, businesses can already access USDC through Plasma One, a neobank app launched in 2025. Meanwhile, developers can integrate USDC and EURC into Plasma-based DeFi and payment applications starting today.

Plasma’s Strategic Positioning

Unlike Ethereum scaling solutions, Plasma is purpose-built for stablecoin operations, leveraging its proprietary PlasmaBFT consensus for sub-second transaction finality. Its native token, XPL, is used for gas fees and network operations but is not required for basic stablecoin transfers—a key differentiator for end users. As of August 28, 2026, Plasma’s market cap for XPL stands at $246.3 million, with its price up 2.9% over the last 24 hours to $0.08825.

The integration of Circle stablecoins aligns with Plasma’s goal to become the backbone for global digital-dollar movement and multi-currency settlement. By focusing on compliant, issuer-backed stablecoin infrastructure, the network is well-positioned to attract institutional capital flows in both the U.S. dollar and euro zones.

Looking Ahead

This launch could act as a catalyst for further adoption of both Plasma and Circle’s stablecoins. The interoperability enabled by CCTP is likely to appeal to developers building cross-chain applications, while the regulatory compliance of USDC and EURC should attract enterprise users. As stablecoin demand continues to grow, particularly in Europe, platforms like Plasma are setting the stage for a more efficient and scalable on-chain financial system.

For developers interested in leveraging these tools, Circle has provided comprehensive documentation on USDC, EURC, and CCTP integration. Meanwhile, institutional users can explore on/offramp solutions via Circle Mint to access these stablecoins on Plasma.
