Bitcoin ETFs Lose $643M After Binance Hack Ends 4-Day Inflow Run

Key Takeaways

Blackrock, Fidelity Lead $643M Bitcoin ETF Selloff

Four days of steady accumulation disappeared in a single session.

Bitcoin ETFs had gathered $440.73 million from Monday through Thursday. Friday’s $643.33 million withdrawal erased that cushion and left the week roughly $202.6 million in the red.

The selling was broad. Blackrock’s IBIT lost $233.70 million, Fidelity’s FBTC shed $201.04 million, and Ark & 21Shares’ ARKB recorded a $129.55 million exit. Grayscale’s GBTC lost another $53.32 million, while Bitwise’s BITB shed $25.72 million.

Trading value surged to $6.35 billion, roughly three times Thursday’s level. Net assets fell below $100 billion to $98.14 billion.

A Broader Retreat Than Earlier October Reversals

The breadth of Friday’s selling carries more weight than the headline total.

Earlier in the week, Bitcoin ETF inflows were often concentrated in IBIT. Friday brought redemptions across five major products at once. That suggests the risk reduction reached beyond a single portfolio or fund complex.

Bitcoin’s price also faced a much less forgiving backdrop after news of the Binance security breach spread through the market. The hack unfolded after Thursday’s U.S. ETF session, making Friday the first full trading day in which ETF investors could react. Still, ETF data show where money moved, not why individual investors sold.

Ether’s Difficult Week Gets Worse

Ether ETFs lost $155.85 million on Friday, their fifth consecutive daily outflow.

Blackrock’s ETHA shed $76.64 million. Its ETHB product lost $19.51 million, while Grayscale’s Ether Mini Trust and ETHE posted withdrawals of $34.14 million and $21.51 million.

Fidelity’s FETH and Morgan Stanley’s MSSE also finished negative.

That pushed ether’s weekly outflow to roughly $431.5 million, extending a pattern of sustained institutional selling that has now lasted well beyond isolated weak sessions.

Solana ETFs lost another $10.74 million, taking weekly withdrawals to about $71.5 million.

Security Risk Moves Back to the Foreground

Zcash finally broke its eight-session inflow streak, losing $4.57 million through Grayscale’s ZCSH. XRP saw a modest $496,500 exit, while HYPE and NEAR recorded no net flows.

The Binance breach also revived questions about custody concentration across institutional crypto products.

OneKey founder Yishi Wang warned that large bitcoin vehicles such as Blackrock’s IBIT could become attractive targets for sophisticated attackers. His comments described a hypothetical security risk, and there is no evidence that IBIT itself has been targeted.

Friday’s flows leave a striking end to the week.

Bitcoin began with four straight inflow sessions. Ether selling never stopped. Solana remained under pressure. Then one high-volume session overwhelmed nearly every positive trend that had developed since Monday.

For crypto ETFs, security risk has suddenly returned to the center of the allocation debate.
